About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Centre Manager to lead the TARGET Centre for Doctoral Training, a collaborative effort between leading universities, research organisations, and industrial partners. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Centre, including recruiting and supervising PhD researchers, delivering cutting-edge training and professional development for early-career scientists and professionals in the mineral resources sector, and contributing to the University's School of Geography, Geology, and the Environment.

About TARGET

TARGET is the Training and Research Group for Energy Transition Mineral Resources, a UKRI NERC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training. The programme will support up to 36 PhD researchers over three intake cohorts, delivering cutting-edge research on mineral resources, critical minerals, ESG, exploration, minerals engineering and mineral systems science. The TARGET programme will support researchers through a thematic training and CPD programme to build the skills and expertise necessary for diverse career pathways related to the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the TARGET Centre for Doctoral Training, including recruiting and supervising PhD researchers.
  2. Deliver cutting-edge training and professional development for early-career scientists and professionals in the mineral resources sector.
  3. Contribute to the University's School of Geography, Geology, and the Environment, providing high-quality teaching and research support.
  4. Work collaboratively with the University's research community, industry partners, and government stakeholders to drive new research initiatives and advance the field of mineral resources.
