About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at Skilled Careers. As an Associate Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical input into the planning process, leading and coordinating detailed design, and implementing projects during the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake strategic development planning and detailed design work, specializing in highways, drainage, and development infrastructure advice to private sector clients and local authorities.
  • Provide technical input into the planning process and lead and coordinate detailed design and implementation of projects during the construction phase.
  • Manage multiple projects and client accounts, requiring strong time management and delegation of tasks to junior staff.
  • Support the wider team's financial and commercial management through robust project delivery, with a strong knowledge of financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering projects.
  • Liaise with highways, water, statutory, and local authorities to negotiate outline and technical approvals.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with relevant qualifications (Bachelor or Masters) in Civil Engineering and Chartered status with at least 8 years of relevant experience. You should have knowledge of legal processes, planning, design, design software, technical consents process, adoption, and contract procedures for drainage schemes, including SUDS systems and associated infrastructure for new developments.

You will be experienced in technical report writing and have knowledge of relevant design codes, such as Sewers for Adoption, SUDS Manual, Building Regulations, Water Industry Act, and associated guidance relevant to drainage and the water environment. You should be able to direct and check the use of relevant software, such as MicroDrainage and AutoCAD, and have an experience or interest in PDS to supervise junior colleagues.
