Senior Finance Analyst (Audit)
As a key member of our business, you will play a vital role in driving business growth, protecting company value, and providing critical financial insights as we transform M&S for success.
This role will involve an initial 12-month period in the Internal Audit & Risk (IA&R) team, where you will gain a deep understanding of the business, its operations, and its leadership.
The IA&R function is responsible for providing independent and objective feedback to the Audit Committee and Business Leadership on key business risks and the effectiveness of mitigating controls.
The functional remit is extensive and encompasses all commercial and functional activities, providing a comprehensive understanding of M&S's business structure, control environment, leadership, and teams.
Your time in IA&R will equip you with a thorough understanding of M&S's business operations, control environment, leadership, and teams, as well as its transformation and strategic activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Building value through insightful and impactful financial analysis, including in-depth analysis of trade performance, scenario modeling on new initiatives, product areas, or promotions.
- Championing continuous improvement by leveraging available analytical tools, collaborating with Data and Finance centre of excellence teams to develop outstanding tools to support the business area and partners.
- Protecting value through strong controllership and understanding of risks and opportunities, collaborating with the wider team to ensure financial controls are in place.
Requirements include:
- Qualified Accountant – CIMA/ACCA/ACA with experience in maintaining financial controls.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to management, business partners, and other finance teams.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to find fresh insights and drive business growth.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
