About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our Microbiology department at Maidstone Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in the support, maintenance, and development of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing section of the department, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Supervise and train junior staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
  • Act as a 'super user' for various instruments within the bacteriology section, ensuring efficient and effective use.
  • Deputise for the bacteriology SBMS when required, providing leadership and support to the team.
  • Review, update, and write new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with ISO 15189:2022 standards.
  • Audit and verify laboratory results, ensuring accuracy and quality.

Requirements
  • BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent.
  • MSc Biomedical Science (or related subject) or FIBMS examinations.
  • IBMS Specialist portfolio Microbiology.
  • Current State Registration (Healthcare Professions Council) as Biomedical Scientist.
