We are seeking a skilled professional to collaborate with a local authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Tenant and Landlord Engagement Officer on a 3-month contract, with the potential for extension at the client's discretion. Please submit your CV for consideration.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice, advocacy, and support to tenants on their rights and responsibilities, as well as landlords and letting agents on their obligations.
  • Develop opportunities across the council to engage with tenants and landlords, with the aim of improving the management of privately rented homes in the borough.
  • Organize meetings, groups, and other platforms with internal and external stakeholders involved in private rented housing to promote best practices in rented accommodation, including establishing and promoting a Landlords' Forum.
  • Lead on consultation and research to identify and assess the views and priorities of stakeholders, with the aim of developing strategies for landlord and tenant engagement.
  • Play a proactive role in the development of policies and procedures that impact private sector tenants and landlords.

Requirements:

  • Degree or level 6 qualification in a relevant field or extensive practical experience in landlord and tenant engagement activities.
  • Experience working in tenancy relations roles, including investigating harassment and illegal evictions.
  • Experience working in partnership with other teams and organizations.

  • You should be available to start immediately or at short notice.
  • You should have the right to work in the UK.
  • This role requires a basic DBS check.
