Job Description

This role is for an enthusiastic individual to work in the Blood Science department of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Pembury but may be required to work at either site.

The role involves supporting Biomedical Scientists in the provision of diagnostic and therapeutic services within the Blood Sciences laboratories. Responsibilities include receiving blood, serum, urine, CSF and other fluids into the department and dealing with telephone enquiries.

The MLA's also support laboratory functions assisting in the diagnosis of disorders by performing related analytical, clerical and administrative duties.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • NVQ level 3 in Laboratory Support
  • Previous laboratory experience (may be educational)
  • Interest in and awareness of science
  • Health & Safety legislation and procedures
  • Command of spoken English
  • Basic computer skills
