Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to set the vision for our organization's use of customer data, driving business growth through data design and analysis. The ideal candidate will have expertise in analyzing and profiling data sources, modeling data at destinations, defining system requirements, and implementing migration methods for existing data.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain various data models representing entities of Abcam's business, ensuring effective, secure, and accessible data storage.
- Partner with corporate functions, including Technical Operations, Customer Experience, New Product Development, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, HR, Finance, and Procurement, to ensure data architecture and capability meet business needs.
- Continuously seek to improve current services and capabilities in Data & Analytics, working closely with the Data Engineering team to provide high-quality, timely data to stakeholders.
- Identify and profile data sources with stakeholders, support data extraction and integration, contribute to the ELT process, create and maintain data mappings.
- Model data at source and destination to support the Enterprise Data Model, owning organized data models that are usable and understandable by business stakeholders.
- Support data transformations, work with stakeholders to define, maintain, and manage changes, ensuring data security and compliance.
- Cooperate with Data Governance to provide insights and enable data ownership assignment.
- Analyze structural requirements for new software and applications, supporting data migrations from legacy systems to new solutions.
- Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements, optimizing new and current database systems.
- Define security and backup procedures, working with architecture to build a holistic picture of the Abcam enterprise environment.
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Data Architect, with a strong understanding of database structure principles and expertise in SQL and Oracle.
- Good communication and organizational skills, with experience in stakeholder management and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau).
- Proven analytical skills, problem-solving attitude, and BSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field.
