Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to set the vision for our organisation's use of customer data, through data design, to meet business needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of database structure principles, experience gathering and analyzing system requirements, and expertise in SQL and Oracle.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Continually seeking to improve current services and capabilities in Data & Analytics
  • Working as a part of the greater Data Engineering team to provide high-quality, timely data to stakeholders
  • Identifying and profiling data sources with stakeholders, supporting data extraction and integration, contributing to the ELT process, creating and maintaining data mappings
  • Modeling data at source and destination to support the Enterprise Data Model
  • Supporting data transformations, working with stakeholders to define, maintain, and manage changes
  • Cooperating with Data Governance to provide insights and enable them to assign data ownership
  • Ensuring data Security and Compliance, designing access controls and rules for properly encrypted data
  • Analyzing structural requirements for new software and applications
  • Supporting data migrations from legacy systems to new solutions
  • Improving system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements
  • Optimizing new and current database systems
  • Defining security and backup procedures
  • Working with architecture to build a holistic picture of the Abcam enterprise environment
Requirements
  • Proven work experience as a Data Architect
  • Good communication and organizational skills, stakeholder management
  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles
  • Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
  • Expertise in SQL and Oracle
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Problem-solving attitude
  • BSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field
