Job Purpose:

YMCA George Williams, Southampton, is a dedicated housing facility that supports young individuals aged 16-25, including those with complex needs, in their journey towards independent living. As an integral member of the Youth Engagement Team, this role focuses on delivering evidence-based and youth-centered programs to both residents and the broader Southampton community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, promote, and implement engaging and relevant activities and programs for young people on a daily basis
  • Provide support, mentorship, and guidance to individual young people in achieving their personal aspirations
  • Conduct risk assessments and assist in support planning
  • Facilitate activities that involve the wider community, including collaboration with our adjacent youth center
  • Collaborate with external organizations to enable the delivery of specialized support and activities for young people
  • Advocate for young people and assist them in accessing appropriate agencies and services
  • Actively support job searches, training, and volunteering opportunities for young people who are not engaged in education, employment, or training
  • Assist in the selection and onboarding process for applicants seeking accommodation

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in program delivery within youth, adult, or community services
  • Strong advocacy for young individuals with complex needs
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches
  • Experience working with young people who have faced trauma, emotional challenges, or substance misuse is advantageous
  • Ability to respond positively and effectively to high-risk behaviors exhibited by young people
  • Proficient in IT skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
  • Awareness of the challenges faced by young people
  • Commitment to promoting equality and diversity
