About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Engagement Coordinator to join our team at YMCA George Williams, Southampton. As a key member of the Youth Engagement Team, you will be responsible for delivering evidenced-based and youth-focused programmes to residents and the wider Southampton Community.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging and relevant activities and programmes to young people
  • Support and mentor individual young people in their pursuit of personal goals
  • Undertake risk assessments and support planning
  • Support the delivery of activities involving the wider community
  • Engage with third parties to deliver specialist support and activities
  • Act as an advocate for young people and signpost access to agencies and services
  • Support job search, training, and volunteering opportunities for young people not in education, employment, or training
  • Assist with the selection and induction of those applying for accommodation

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience of programme delivery in youth, adult, or community-based services
  • Strong advocacy skills for young people with complex needs
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches
  • Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma, poor emotional wellbeing, or substance misuse
  • Ability to react positively and effectively to high-risk behaviours
  • Good IT proficiency
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
  • Commitment to equality and diversity
