Band 8a Lead Nurse, Adult Critical Care

We are seeking an experienced Band 8a Lead Nurse to join our Adult Critical Care Transfer Service team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of the Retrieve team, you will be responsible for leading and developing the service to ensure high-quality clinical care for critically ill adults requiring transfer.
The successful candidate will have significant recent leadership experience in critical care, with a strong ability to demonstrate expertise in this field. You will also possess postgraduate specialist training to Master's level or equivalent and relevant experience with intra-hospital and inter-hospital transfer. Additionally, you should be able to lead and manage a team, understand effective budgetary management, and promote a valued staff culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Adult Critical Care Transfer Service to ensure high-quality clinical care for critically ill adults requiring transfer
- Provide specialised knowledge and skilled nursing care for critically ill adults requiring transfer
- Oversee the Training and Education team to support a high-quality in-house education programme and regional transfer courses
- Monitor service effectiveness with the Lead Consultant for Audit and Research through audit and statistical data collection
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in nursing
- Qualification in Teaching, Assessing, and mentoring
- Evidence of Master's level academic study or willingness to work towards a Master's
- Completion of Step 1-3 competencies or equivalent experience in critical care
Salary: £83,320 - £106,942 per annum (dependent on experience)
