Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a lovely secondary school in Newport. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional learning needs, ensuring they receive the best possible education and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with pupils aged 11-16 with additional learning needs, providing individualized support and interventions.
  • Assist pupils with their school work, offering literacy and numeracy support, and closely working alongside subject teachers to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Provide emotional support to pupils struggling with their well-being and mental health.
  • Enhance pupils' overall wellbeing and mental health.

Requirements:

  • Patient, kind, and caring individual who can be firm when necessary.
  • Motivated and able to act on own initiative with minimal guidance.
  • Experience in a relevant field working with vulnerable adults or children with learning difficulties.
  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Mental Health needs.
  • Able to commit to a full academic year and not take holidays during term time.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Personal or professional experience with additional needs.
  • Qualification in education or related field.
  • Confident with behavior management.
  • Strong communication skills.
