Job Summary

This role oversees the design engineering process for a highly specialized Survitec product set, providing expert engineering guidance to drive product development and innovation. They must understand how design meets customer needs, regulatory requirements, and commercial requirements of Survitec, enabling tight product alignment for rapid development and innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide expert design engineering guidance within individual contract terms or service level agreements, planning, coordinating, and supervising activities related to major contracts.

• Identify shortcomings in existing product design or use, suggesting and implementing improvements while developing and delivering product roadmap changes and new product development within Survitec's NPD and change management process.

• Manage the knowledge management system with guidance from senior colleagues, contributing to its development.

• Uncover emerging design, quality, safety, and operational issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers, and key stakeholders, as well as related issues.

• Develop procedures and interpret and apply policy and regulatory requirements to the product area, ensuring the product set keeps pace with or sets the pace for compliance and best practice, monitoring the impact of product developments to ensure design remains commercially successful.

• Analyze and evaluate the feasibility and relevance of proposed complex products and services, making recommendations for development, replacement, or retirement, potentially supervising activities performed by other team members in service of overall product development.

• Manage a portfolio of change projects, reporting to senior colleagues.

• Recommend changes to policies, processes, standards, and practices that would improve operational support.

• Identify and evaluate complex, expertise-led solutions against a range of criteria to find the ones that best meet business and customer needs.

• Contribute positively to creating an inclusive environment where people feel valued, appreciated, and free to be who they are at work.

• Understand, uphold, and contribute to creating a safety-first culture within Survitec.

Experience and Qualification

• Educated to University / Post-graduate master's degree level.

• 10 years of wide and deep general experience of providing expert engineering competence.

• 7 – 12 months experience of general supervision of more junior colleagues.
