Job Title: Assistant Professor (Teaching & Scholarship) in Social Policy Research

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Assistant Professor (Teaching & Scholarship) in Social Policy Research. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of our UK undergraduate degree apprenticeship programmes, including the area of Social Research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach cutting-edge courses in Social Research, both online and on campus
  • Assess and moderate student work, providing feedback and guidance
  • Support students and employers through various means, including peer review and student support
  • Contribute to the development of the university's online BSc in Applied Social Research
  • Engage in research and scholarship, publishing in reputable journals and presenting at conferences

About the Role:

This is a full-time, permanent position, with a salary range of £47,321 to £54,827, progressing to £58,155 once in post. The role is suitable for hybrid working, with the expectation of attending the campus for face-to-face work as and when required.

Person Specification:

  • PhD completed, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area
  • Excellent ability to be adaptable, innovative, and inclusive in the role
  • Willingness and capacity to undertake continuous professional development
  • Ability to develop excellent educational provision in areas with significant appeal to students
  • Flexibility and capacity to teach across a wide range of courses
  • Teaching competency in Social Policy Research to Levels 4–6
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills and evidence of supporting the integration of technologies into learning and teaching
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills
  • Excellent ability to work with professional bodies
