About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Geriatrician to join our team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and consolidating new ways of working in Geriatric Medicine, including the Frailty Unit and its associated services.

As a Consultant Geriatrician, you will provide daily telephone support to primary care, participate in clinical audit, and implement audit findings as appropriate. You will also contribute to research in Medicine for the Elderly and participate in educational and audit meetings.

Main Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the support and further development of the initiatives within the Department of Geriatric Medicine, including the Frailty Unit and its associated services.

General Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare for older patients referred for diagnosis and treatment, responding to inpatient and outpatient referrals from other specialties, and providing prompt advice for General Practitioners.

Key Requirements

Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent, MRCP or equivalent, full registration with the GMC, and a licence to practise.

Experience

Broad-based training and wide experience of acute and general medicine, and broad-based training in Geriatric Medicine.

Skills

Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to lead a multidisciplinary team, and flexibility to respond to the varying needs of a busy department.
