Senior Ecologist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our Ecosystem Solutions department. As a key member of our Environment and Health division, you will work on a range of projects including transport, residential and commercial development, and renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and undertake ecological surveys, producing high-quality reports and habitat and species surveys.
  • Undertake ecological mitigation design and delivery, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Liaise with ecological regulators and planning authorities, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Manage small to medium-scale projects, with input on large-scale projects, and collaborate with other teams in Ramboll.
  • Deliver technical work on complex projects, including fee proposal preparation and client relationship management.
  • Supervise and manage more junior ecologists and sub-consultants, and contribute to resource planning.
Requirements:
  • Protected species licence(s), with experience of named ecologist on European Protected Species Mitigation Licence(s).
  • Proficient user of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ArcGIS or QGIS.
  • Experience in field work and application of survey techniques in accordance with best practice guidance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English to a range of audiences.
  • Highly organized and able to work efficiently and effectively to deadlines on designated tasks.
  • Good knowledge of relevant environmental/ecology legislation and the UK planning system.
