About the Role

Farrans Construction is seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Peterborough. As a key member of our commercial management team, you will play a crucial role in delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of multi-discipline contractors and supply chain partners to achieve commercial results through accurate financial reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Administer NEC contracts and manage subcontractor accounts to ensure financial and contractual compliance.
  • Develop and coordinate procurement schedules to meet project requirements.
  • Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring compliance with contract conditions.
  • Monitor project expenditure against budget and provide analysis of cost overruns and projections.
  • Liaise with clients on commercial issues, including variations, claims, and additional payments.
  • Identify legitimate contractual claim situations and prepare documentation for clients.
  • Create project-specific commercial risk and opportunity profiles with measurable controls and allocate responsibility.
  • Lead and support a team of Surveyors, including performance management, individual focus reviews, and continuous professional development.

About You

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with at least ten years of pre and post-contract experience in a construction commercial management role. You will have a strong understanding of modern civil engineering techniques, plant, and equipment, as well as an appreciation of logistical needs and issues.
