Senior Materials Laboratory Technician

Our team shapes projects that connect communities and impact daily life for millions. As a Senior Materials Laboratory Technician, you will support the management and delivery of materials engineering services within Balfour Beatty. Your key responsibilities will include planning and undertaking inspection and testing on site and in the laboratory, identifying and reporting areas of risk and opportunity. You will also establish and maintain safe methods of work for the materials team on site and in the laboratory, and comply with the site quality system for the materials testing laboratory, including materials reporting.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the management and delivery of materials engineering services
- Plan and undertake inspection and testing on site and in the laboratory
- Identify and report areas of risk and opportunity
- Establish and maintain safe methods of work for the materials team
- Comply with the site quality system for the materials testing laboratory
As a Senior Materials Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for delivering results by deadlines as required by the contract and project teams. You will also maintain equipment calibrations and notify the lab manager of any defects requiring attention. Additionally, you will identify, record, and report Best Practice to project and offsite teams.
Requirements:- Previous experience working in a UKAS accredited laboratory
- Experience in auditing, training/development of junior staff
- Key focus on health and safety within the laboratory
- Proficient IT skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
- Valid CSCS card and a full driving licence
