The successful candidate will work collaboratively with pharmacy, clinical, finance, and commissioning colleagues to introduce safe, clinically-effective, and cost-efficient medicines to our local formulary.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Lead Pharmacist (Clinical Commissioning & Medicines Value) and lead the Pharmacy Medicines Effectiveness team in their absence.
  • Provide information and support to the Lead Pharmacy Technician (Medicines Effectiveness) in managing the introduction of new formulary medicines to the Trust.
  • Develop and implement treatment pathways, prescribing guidance, and shared care agreements to facilitate the implementation of formulary decisions.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy, clinical, finance, and commissioning colleagues to introduce high-cost drugs to the Trust's formulary and ensure compliance with commissioning policies and contractual agreements.
  • Act as an advanced clinical pharmacist, delivering clinical pharmacy services to an agreed ward or patient group, with opportunities for independent prescribing.

Person Specification

  • MPharm degree or equivalent.
  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Experience of working across departmental and organisational boundaries to deliver specific targets and improve services for patients.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and structures within the NHS.
