Responsibilities

As a Compliance Officer at AJ FOX COMPLIANCE, you will be responsible for ensuring that our firm adheres to all relevant laws and regulations related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Advising secretaries, fee earners, and partners on best practices regarding client matter opening procedures.
  • Performing ad-hoc tasks and projects to implement and develop risk-led initiatives within the team.
  • Maintaining knowledge of the firm's relevant processes, policies, and procedures, as well as industry standards.
  • Providing training on the firm's relevant policies and procedures to new joiners.
  • Supporting improvements to systems and procedures.
  • Supporting junior members of the team.
  • Reviewing new client and matter forms to ensure complete details are provided.
  • Conducting conflict searches and analyzing search results.
  • Liaising directly with Partners and Fee Earners on identified potential legal or commercial conflicts.
  • Suggesting process improvements to conflicts procedures and supporting software.
  • Implementing information barriers.
  • Escalating high-risk issues to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
  • Analyzing and establishing the corporate structure of the client where relevant and identifying the beneficial ownership.
  • Undertaking ongoing AML/Sanctions monitoring of high-risk clients.
  • Performing ongoing monitoring of existing clients.

We require an individual with excellent communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, great attention to detail, and the ability to approach internal clients confidently and diplomatically for further documentation on matters. A legal education, knowledge of the SRA rules, and experience gained at a law firm are also essential.
