Job Summary:

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is seeking an experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our dedicated team. As an AMHP, you will provide assessment and support for individuals with urgent mental health issues requiring statutory intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessment and support for individuals with urgent mental health issues
  • Promote the independence and rights of vulnerable individuals, addressing safeguarding issues and advocating for their needs
  • Work collaboratively with other partner agencies to achieve desired outcomes
  • Develop and implement effective support plans to meet the needs of individuals
  • Contribute to the development of the team and the service, sharing expertise and best practices

Requirements:

  • Experience as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) with a sound knowledge of the law
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, prioritizing workload according to risk, urgency, and complexity
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others
  • Flexibility to work a minimum of three days per week on the AMHP rota, with occasional work in other Council buildings
