Job Title: Controls for Operations – Invest and Grow

Nutmeg Saving and Investment Limited – A Global Leader in Financial Services

We are seeking a seasoned Vice President to join our Controls team, specializing in Operations – Invest and Grow at Nutmeg Saving and Investment Limited. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management of operational risks and controls, driving strategic priorities, and supporting the growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) program, focusing on Control Design & Expertise, Risks & Controls Identification/Assessment, Issues & Control Deficiencies, and Control Governance & Reporting.
  • Partner with colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators, and technology control functions to drive consistent and rigorous operational risk practices and control programs.
  • Ensure operational practices are in compliance with relevant risk standards, policies, and regulations to maintain an effective control environment, managing a portfolio of key metrics to inform on the health of the operational risk and control environment.
  • Drive and manage projects and initiatives on risk and controls, such as awareness programs, risk expos, trainings, etc.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in Operational Risk Management gained through working within Controls, Operational Risk management within a complex banking or investments organization, with demonstrated experience in embedding ORM frameworks within an organization.
  • Relevant experience at a large financial institution, regulator, consulting firm, and/or retail investments manager.
  • Experience in, or working with, Controls/Operational Risk Management at a large, complex banking organization, focus on Operations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of investment products and services – e.g. Discretionary Wealth Management and Investment Advice preferred.
  • Good knowledge of and experience with regulators' exam processes and regulatory matters.
  • Confident in expressing opinions, setting expectations, and challenging approaches in an appropriate way, with experience in managing senior management relationships a plus.
  • Expert in Controls or Operational Risk Management within Financial Services industry, with a strong understanding of Operational Risk Management Regulatory Frameworks and their application.
  • Demonstrated experience across conducting Risk and Control Self-Assessment, Review, and Management of Operational Risk Issues.
  • Superior communication skills, including active listening and the ability to capture and deliver key takeaways from engagements in writing, with good communication skills, keen to defend the validity and tailor messages to different audiences to engage and influence.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
