About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused individual to join our team as a Rail Testing Specialist. As an operative, you will play a critical part in the daily upkeep of the rail network, working outdoors in a small team to support essential maintenance and ensure the safe and smooth operation of the railway.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the team to deliver safe and efficient work delivery, utilizing your excellent team-working skills.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
  • Plan and prepare for each shift, ensuring the van and equipment are ready and anticipating the needs of the team.
  • Remain calm under pressure, working outdoors in all conditions and with trains passing close by.
  • Follow rules and instructions, while also feeling confident to challenge if you see a situation is unsafe.
  • Develop your skills and competencies relevant to your discipline, keeping up to date with new standards, procedures, and instructions.
Requirements
  • Shifts will involve a changing pattern, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • You will be comfortable working in different conditions, including outdoor work in all weathers.
  • Offers of employment are subject to drug and alcohol testing, passing of the relevant medical assessment, and BPSS pre-employment checks.
  • You will need a driving licence (category B) to drive Network Rail vehicles.
  • You must be within a 60-minute commute of the location you are applying for.
