Job Overview

The Academic Library Tutor role is a pivotal position in Global Banking School's (GBS) commitment to student retention and satisfaction. As a key member of the GBS team, you will play a crucial role in providing academic support and guidance to students, ensuring their success and well-being throughout their academic journey.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Academic Library Tutor. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality academic support services to students, including one-to-one tuition, group sessions, and workshops.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Academic Support: Offer guidance and support to students on a range of academic topics, including essay writing, research skills, and time management.
  • Facilitate Learning Sessions: Deliver engaging and interactive learning sessions, including lectures, seminars, and workshops, to promote student understanding and achievement.
  • Mentor Students: Provide one-to-one mentoring and coaching to students, helping them to set goals, develop study skills, and overcome challenges.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with other GBS staff members, including tutors, lecturers, and administrative teams, to ensure seamless delivery of academic support services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and typically 5 years of experience in a busy environment, ideally in Higher Education.
  • A strongly developed sense of service delivery and customer/student-focused approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – active listening, excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong administrative skills with proficiency in MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook Mail.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • The post holder must be flexible, approachable, and helpful with a strong customer service ethic.
  • The post holder will use initiative and judgement to resolve matters.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and personal information with tact and confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain working relationships and appropriate boundaries, typically required when referring students to appropriate support.
Estimated Salary:

£28,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
