Our Wednesbury Site:

We've invested £4.7 million in state-of-the-art facilities at our Wednesbury site in the West Midlands. This site is our newest advanced manufacturing site, employing over 150 individuals who help supply the UK's largest supermarkets and restaurants.

About the Role:

As a forward-thinking business, we take pride in our Quality approach across Avara Foods. We're looking for a highly competent and motivated Lead Quality Manager to join our Quality Team at the Wednesbury site.

The role is office-based, with some time spent in a fast-paced, dynamic FMCG environment. As a Lead Quality Manager, you'll work Monday to Friday (08.00-17.00) and be responsible for managing the site's Technical function to ensure legal compliance, food safety, and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, induct, train, and manage Quality Managers effectively.
  • Support external audits (e.g., BRCGS, Red Tractor, retailer).
  • Ensure internal audit schedules are maintained and audits are completed.
  • Monitor and audit Technical operations to ensure customer requirements are understood and achieved.
  • Review non-conformances and identify longer-term corrective action plans.
  • Review product specifications and ensure they meet customer requirements.
  • Investigate customer complaints of a technical nature and ensure findings and action plans are completed.
  • Support relationships with internal and external customers during site visits.
  • Link NPD and production to ensure new or changed products, processes, and packaging are effectively introduced.

Requirements:

  • Food-related HND, Advanced Food Safety Level 4, and Advanced HACCP Level 4.
  • Internal auditing qualification.
  • Experience of BRCGS or ISO 9000.
  • Leadership skills and experience of motivating teams.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels.
  • Knowledge and experience of major retailers.
