Job Title: Clinical Microbiologist

We are seeking a talented Clinical Microbiologist to join our team at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. As a key member of our Microbiology department, you will be responsible for testing samples from small animals, primarily dogs and cats. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of species and develop your expertise in clinical microbiology.

About the Job:

The successful candidate will receive, prepare, and access veterinary samples for laboratory analysis and testing. You will also be involved in the analysis and evaluation of chemical and microscopic components of urine samples using automated instrumentation and manual techniques. Additionally, you will examine samples to identify parasites using faecal flotation and various microscopic techniques.

As a Diagnostics Scientist, you will process clinical samples for the identification of bacteria and fungi using automated and manual methods. Your workload will often include samples from livestock and exotic species through regular zoo screening. You will have full autonomy in your work, but you will also receive full support when needed.

About the Ideal Candidate:

To succeed in this role, you will require a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences/Microbiology or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant experience in a similar position or veterinary practice is desirable. You should have practical experience in Urinalysis, Parasitology, and/or Microbiology. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks are essential. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks, and demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills.

We offer a competitive salary of £40,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to your annual salary, you can expect benefits including 10% pension contribution, bonus plan, life insurance, income protection insurance, eye care vouchers, access to independent financial advisors, private medical insurance, and up to 16 hours paid volunteer time off per year.
