Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pre-Construction Manager to join our team at Sudlows Ltd. As a key member of our pre-construction team, you will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of pre-construction activities for data centre projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Client Engagement & Development:
    1. Engage with clients to understand their requirements and provide technical expertise.
    2. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to secure future projects.
    3. Present Sudlows' capabilities in data centre installations and provide strategic input on project feasibility and innovation.
  2. Pre-Construction Planning & Coordination:
    1. Lead the planning phase for mechanical and electrical systems in data centre projects.
    2. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on scope, budget, and timelines.
    3. Develop detailed pre-construction plans, risk assessments, and value engineering initiatives.
  3. Project Estimation & Budgeting:
    1. Prepare cost estimates and budgets for mechanical and electrical installations in data centres.
    2. Provide guidance on procurement strategies for equipment and subcontractors.
  4. Technical Leadership:
    1. Advise clients and internal teams on the latest innovations and best practices in M&E installations for data centres.
    2. Ensure all designs and plans comply with industry standards, building codes, and Sudlows' internal quality protocols.
    3. Provide technical support to clients during the bidding process and throughout the pre-construction phase.
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    1. Act as a key point of contact between clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams during pre-construction.
    2. Facilitate design and progress meetings to ensure smooth handover from pre-construction to construction.
  6. Risk Management & Quality Assurance:
    1. Identify potential risks in the pre-construction phase and implement mitigation strategies.
    2. Ensure all projects meet Sudlows' quality standards, with particular attention to the complexities of data centre installations.
  7. Reporting & Documentation:
    1. Prepare and present pre-construction progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    2. Maintain comprehensive documentation of project scopes, budgets, designs, and revisions.
    3. Ensure all pre-construction activities are fully documented and compliant with Sudlows' standards.
Requirements
  1. HNC/D qualified, Electrical BIAS.
  2. 3-4 years' experience - data centre project experience highly desirable.
  3. Proven experience as a Pre-Con Manager or Senior PM working on a range of projects.
  4. Experience of consultant and/or contractor led services.
  5. Desirable experience – Data Centres or other critical environments Rail, Nuclear, critical power & cooling.
