This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing the construction of new DNO connections in Scotland, managing substantial financial deliveries, driving operational excellence and growth. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in scaling operations to £10M per annum over the next three years.

Main Responsibilities

1. Strategic Oversight and Management:

  • Direct and oversee the build process for new electrical connections, ensuring Site works are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Manage an annual financial delivery, with growth targets of £10M per Annum within the next three years, ensuring financial performance aligns with company goals.

2. Leadership and Team Development:

  • Provide strong leadership to Build teams, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director (MD) to define personnel requirements, develop job descriptions, and oversee recruitment and hiring processes to build a high-performing team.

3. Financial and Operational Control:

  • Monitor and control budgets, analyze financial performance, and implement measures to address variances and drive profitability

4. Bid and Project Approval:

  • Review and comment on bid submissions from a construction and field delivery perspective, ensuring that proposed scopes, schedules, and costs are realistic and achievable.
  • Work with the bid management team to provide insights on project feasibility, risk management, and resource allocation.

5. Strategic Planning and Improvement:

  • Working with the Build Director (DNO, England) Develop and implement strategies to enhance construction processes, optimize resource utilization, and drive operational growth.
  • Evaluate and improve operational methodologies, technologies, and processes to support scaling and efficiency.

6. Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all construction activities comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Person Specification
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in construction management, particularly in the electrical or power sector, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial management.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with bid processes and project approvals is highly desirable.
