**Job Opportunity:** Academic and Personal Care Assistant - SEN & SEND Support

**Location:** Redbridge

**Hours:** Full-time/Part-time

**Contract Type:** Temporary - Ongoing

We are seeking an Academic Support Specialist to assist students with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities (SEND) in both their educational progress and personal care needs.

The successful candidate will provide academic support in the classroom, helping students engage with lessons and activities, and offer one-to-one academic support where needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in the classroom, helping them to engage with lessons and activities.
  • Provide one-to-one academic support where needed.
  • Offer assistance with personal care tasks such as mobility, toileting, dressing, and feeding.
  • Work with the teaching and SEND teams to modify learning resources and create an accessible environment.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, offering encouragement and understanding to help them overcome challenges.
  • Promote independence while ensuring that students feel supported and included in all aspects of college life.

**Requirements:**

  • GCSE Qualifications
  • Experience in supporting students with SEN and SEND in an educational or care setting.
  • Compassionate and Patient: A caring approach and the ability to remain calm and positive in a variety of situations.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to assist with both academic tasks and personal care.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Able to effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents.
