About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Vision Rehabilitation Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our Sensory Service, you will play a vital role in enabling individuals with visual impairments, deaf/hard of hearing, and deaf blindness to achieve optimum control of their lives through rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert rehabilitation input using an outcome-focused approach, including provision of low vision aids and rehabilitation training in orientation, mobility, and daily living skills.
  • Deliver tailored packages of rehabilitation around daily living skills and mobility using a person-centered, strengths-based approach.
  • Provide professional leadership, training, and support to staff to develop their skills and knowledge in line with related legislation, including the Care Act and Hertfordshire's Connected Lives principles.
  • Actively promote equality and diversity and challenge discrimination.
Requirements
  • Significant experience of working with adults and children with visual impairment, including those with additional disabilities/support needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of the Care Act and other statutory legislations within Adult Social Care and Children's Services, relevant to the role.
  • Excellent working knowledge of rehabilitation needs, including children and adults with sensory needs.
  • Confident in working closely with people, colleagues, and autonomously managing a diverse caseload, meetings, and lead on projects.
  • Driving license to travel county-wide for meetings and community visits.
  • Familiar with contributing to safeguarding practices.
  • Experiences of mentoring and coaching.
  • Specialist Project lead.
  • Willingness to learn and develop management and leadership skills, appropriate to the role.
  • Registered with Rehabilitation Professional Workers Network and/or Habilitation VI UK (formerly MISE).
