About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Dental Officer to join our Special Care and Community Dental Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive dental care to our patients in Allerdale and Copeland.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to work four days per week, with the option to work full-time or part-time. You will be based largely at Cleator Moor Dental Clinic, a new multi-surgery site with bariatric facilities and digital radiography.
As a Senior Dental Officer, you will be responsible for providing direct clinical contact and innovative working with our local health and social care partners and patients. You will also be expected to travel to other clinic locations in Allerdale and Copeland, and provide care under general anaesthesia at the new build West Cumberland Hospital.

Person Specification
- BDS or equivalent qualification
- Registration with the General Dental Council
- NHSE Performer List number
- Not to be subject to open or on-going Performer Investigation
Desirable Criteria
- Postgraduate qualification in Special Care Dentistry
- Postgraduate qualification in Paediatric Dentistry
- Postgraduate qualification in Sedation
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of basic physiology and medical conditions that may cause complications in the delivery of dentistry
- Current commissioning guidelines in sedation, special care and paediatric dentistry
- Basic Life Support and the skills to lead a medical emergency
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
- Immediate Life Support/Paediatric Immediate Life Support
- Knowledge of alternative methods of and adjuncts to communication
