We are seeking a visionary Chief Nursing Officer to lead our nursing and allied health professional workforce. This critical leadership role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care across all services, including our wards, emergency departments, paediatrics, and maternity units.

The successful candidate will continue the strong focus on quality and safety established by our previous Chief Nurse, Kathryn Halford, while bringing fresh ideas and leadership to the role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and clinical leadership to all nursing and midwifery, allied health professionals, and healthcare scientific staff within the Trust.
  • Foster a culture that values continuing professional development and strives for excellence in all aspects of patient care.
  • Act as the Place lead for Barking and Dagenham, driving forward strategic initiatives and fostering partnerships.
  • Ensure that the health and wellbeing priorities of Barking and Dagenham residents are reflected in the Trust's services.
  • Provide clear leadership to improve patient experience, clinical outcomes, quality of care, and safety of patients.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with a Master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
  • Leadership qualification or recognised program.
  • Relevant first degree.

Desirable

  • Management qualification.

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust operates from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London, serving over 300,000 people annually.
