Job Overview

This role is focused on promoting learning opportunities within the education department and providing support to new arrivals. The successful candidate will need to be able to research educational backgrounds, administer basic skills assessments, and identify any Learning Disability needs.

In addition, the Learning Support Practitioner will be responsible for writing learning support plans and collaborating with teachers to develop strategies for inclusion across the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide education induction to new arrivals and promote learning opportunities within the education department.
  • Research educational backgrounds and administer basic skills assessments.
  • Identify any Learning Disability needs and develop individualised learning support plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop strategies for inclusion across the curriculum.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An understanding of how people learn and methods that can enhance a learning experience.
  • A track record of working effectively with individuals presenting challenging behaviour.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • To hold or be willing to work towards level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy within an agreed timescale.
  • To hold or be willing to work towards a level 2 or 3 qualification for Learning Support Practitioners within an agreed timescale.
