Data Centre Operations Manager

Google is seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of teams within data centre operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating priorities and facilitating hand-off of operations to following shift leads.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a related field. Additionally, they will have 5 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor or contract management, and delivery.

The Data Centre Operations Manager will work closely with the Hardware Operations team to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for our global computing and network architecture. They will also manage the implementation of projects within the team and ensure data centre-related priorities are consistent with company objectives.

English proficiency is a requirement for all roles at Google, and the ability to travel up to 30% of the time as needed is also essential.

About the Role

As a Data Centre Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading one or more teams to deliver critical data centre initiatives, identifying trends via data analytics at the project level, and driving the changes needed to address them.

You will be the point of contact for escalation for one or more data centre sites, quantifying systemic issues and escalating when appropriate. Program Managers, Data Centre Operations, will provide input into short-term and long-term strategy, process changes, and task orders for the site.

The Data Centre team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are a diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centres.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of teams within data centre operations.
  • Communicate priorities and facilitate hand-off of operations to following shift leads.
  • Work together to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for our global computing and network architecture.
  • Manage the implementation of projects within the team.
  • Ensure data centre-related priorities are consistent with company objectives.
