About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Facilities Manager to join our team at Amazon Data Services UK Limited. As a Data Centre Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centres, including managing and developing teams of engineers, maintaining existing operational data centres, and helping to build and bring online new data centres.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to and exceed Health & Safety standards in all our data centres
  • Manage and develop teams of engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance
  • Maintain existing operational Amazon data centres to the highest level of Availability
  • Help to build and bring online new Amazon data centres
  • Constantly improve all our processes and procedures
  • Assist and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors
  • Liaise with internal teams and management groups
  • Create and maintain metrics on all aspects of our data centres and utilise those metrics to drive positive changes
  • Assist in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • An excellent understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data centre operations including systems such as feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switch gear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, Air Handling units
  • Proven track record of people management and developing teams and in particular ensuring staff are ready for any and conditions through skill and process development
  • Experience managing SLAs through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting
  • Able to demonstrate their ability to take ownership of technical issues brought to them by their customer base. If they are unable to resolve certain issues by themselves, can demonstrate a willingness to actively engage other support teams to drive it to resolution

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced electrical or mechanical qualification (Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline is also acceptable)
  • Experience working in data centres with an emphasis on building and equipment operation
  • Experience delivering accurate and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries
