Job Title: Health and Safety Regional Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Regional Manager to join our team at TOPPS TILES. As a key member of our Health and Safety department, you will play a critical role in supporting the Head of Health and Safety in the identification and development of continuous improvement plans for our specified areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Stay up-to-date with legislation and best practice through various forums, safety groups, and information sources.
  2. Conduct monitoring, audits, and coaching visits to all Company locations, including warehouses, and virtual visits.
  3. Research, review, and make recommendations for improvement of current safety management systems to ensure compliance with legislation and industry best practice.
  4. Review, validate, and record internal safety inspections, accidents, and near misses, and provide statistical information.
  5. Support the Head of Health and Safety in developing regional and national strategy, ensuring alignment with Company financial criteria.
  6. Liaise with Commercial colleagues to develop and implement ISO14001, and develop processes for Group-wide participation and inclusion in the Environmental Management Strategy.
  7. Develop and present agreed topics to area, regional, function-specific, and national safety and environmental meetings.
People/Leadership:
  1. Provide advice and information to the Head of Health and Safety on accidents/claims, involving insurers/underwriters to minimize business risk.
  2. Lead agreed projects, providing a business overview, scoping, desired results, and completion to agreed timelines.
  3. Act as a subject specialist on other functions' projects or requests for information.
  4. Assist and lead the development of information technology systems to improve safety system functionality.
  5. Collaborate with property, distribution, logistics, and commercial departments to ensure refits, new stores, or locations have necessary safety equipment.
Risk and Process:
  1. Produce accurate and timely reports outlining opportunities/risk to the Head of Safety, Health, Environment on a weekly and monthly basis.
  2. Work with the Health and Safety Administration Coordinator to monitor accidents/near misses, identifying fatality or serious injury potential in current and new stores, and other specified areas of responsibility.
  3. Develop and implement necessary measures to remove or mitigate risk.
  4. Be willing to travel and spend up to 2 nights away from home per week.
  5. Manage several projects of different dimensions, lengths, and complexity levels.
  6. Display an approachable manner, with a passion for meeting people and developing professional networks.
  7. Hold a full UK driving license.
  8. Have experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to a basic standard.
  9. Hold Health and Safety qualifications, with a minimum of Associate Member (AIOSH) and working towards Technical Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH).
  10. Hold a Fire Risk Assessment qualification or demonstrate competency.
  11. Have an established pool of health and safety contacts.
  12. Be a Technical Member working towards Graduate Member or greater of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
  13. Have varied experience from similar businesses, such as retail, warehousing, and logistics.
