We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Regional Manager to join our team at TOPPS TILES. As a key member of our Health and Safety department, you will play a critical role in supporting the Head of Health and Safety in the identification and development of continuous improvement plans for our specified areas of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:- Stay up-to-date with legislation and best practice through various forums, safety groups, and information sources.
- Conduct monitoring, audits, and coaching visits to all Company locations, including warehouses, and virtual visits.
- Research, review, and make recommendations for improvement of current safety management systems to ensure compliance with legislation and industry best practice.
- Review, validate, and record internal safety inspections, accidents, and near misses to agreed persons, and provide statistical information.
- Support the Head of Health and Safety in the development of regional and national strategy, ensuring alignment with Company financial criteria.
- Liaise with Commercial colleagues to support the development and implementation of ISO14001, developing processes for Group-wide participation and inclusion in the Environmental Management Strategy.
- Develop and present agreed topics to area, regional, function-specific, and national safety and environmental meetings.
- Provide advice and information to the Head of Health and Safety on accidents/claims, involving insurers/underwriters to minimize business risk.
- Lead agreed projects, providing a business overview, scoping, desired results, and completion to agreed timelines.
- Act as a subject specialist on other functions' projects or requests for information.
- Assist and lead the continual development of information technology systems to improve the functionality of safety systems.
- Collaborate with property, distribution, logistics, and commercial departments to ensure refits, new stores, or locations have necessary safety equipment.
- Produce accurate and timely reports outlining opportunities/risk to the Head of Safety, Health, Environment on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Work with the Health and Safety Administration Coordinator to monitor accidents/near misses, identifying fatality or serious injury potential in current and new stores, and other specified areas of responsibility.
- Develop and implement necessary measures to remove or mitigate risk.
- Be willing to travel and spend up to 2 nights away from home per week.
- Manage several projects of different dimensions, lengths, and complexity levels.
- Display an approachable manner, with a passion for meeting people and developing professional networks.
- Hold a full UK driving license.
- Have experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to a basic standard.
- Hold Health and Safety qualifications, with a minimum of Associate Member (AIOSH) and working towards Technical Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH).
- Hold a Fire risk assessment qualification or demonstrate competency.
- Have an established pool of health and safety contacts.
- Be a Technical member working towards Graduate member or greater of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
- Have varied experience from similar businesses, such as retail, warehousing, and logistics.
