Job Title: Port Multi-Skilled Operative

Freightliner is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Port Multi-Skilled Operative to join our team at Felixstowe. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for a variety of engineering and operational duties, including inspecting arriving and departing wagons, repairing wagons as needed, and shunting and train preparation duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and maintain freight trains and equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on wagons and other equipment
  • Assist with train shunting and preparation duties
  • Operate gantry cranes, mobile lifting equipment, and other mobile plant and ancillary equipment
  • Conduct daily operator checks of equipment and complete relevant paperwork
  • Participate in the development of new staff through mentoring and training
Requirements:
  • Clean UK driving license
  • Flexible outlook towards work duties and hours
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Confident decision maker
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload
Working Conditions:

The post involves shift work and rostered Saturday working. However, flexibility in hours and duties will be vital to the success of the role.

Qualifications and Training:
  • Assessed as competent to relevant industry and Freightliner standards
  • Local Working Instructions
  • PTS
  • Dangerous Goods awareness
