Historical Ecologist and Research Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Historical Ecologist and Research Specialist to join our team at Bangor University's School of Ocean Sciences.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a researcher with expertise in historical ecology, marine environmental history, or a related field to work on a UKRI-funded project focused on the sustainable management of fisheries and marine ecosystems. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team bringing together historians, marine biologists, and historical ecologists.
Job DescriptionThe main duties of this role will include:
- Gathering and analysing data from historical records, modern scientific data, and interviews with stakeholders.
- Delivering research outcomes through publications, project reports, and dissemination to relevant organisations.
- Administrating the research project, including data management, meeting coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
- Liaising with the postgraduate research assistant and contributing to the development of cross-disciplinary capacity within the university.
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in either history/related humanities or sciences, and experience in managing large datasets, integrating multiple data types, and working with primary historical sources. A good understanding of GIS/mapping skills, verbal and written communication, and computer skills are essential.
