About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in Southampton, working within our Children's Services department. The successful candidate will work closely with our team to provide coordinated assessment, care planning, and therapeutic intervention for children and young people with multiple and complex disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the needs of disabled children and young people for personal independence, working alongside team members and related professionals.
  • Deploy resources under the guidance of the Senior Occupational Therapist, ensuring risk assessment meets departmental priorities and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in the recruitment and development of Occupational Therapy Assistant staff under the direction of the Senior Occupational Therapist.
  • Recommend and provide specialized equipment to disabled children and young people, offering guidance on its use to them and their carers.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of a Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent, and be registered with the HCPC. You will also have a sound awareness of the additional needs of children with complex disabilities, and an understanding of the minor and major disabled adaptations that can benefit children with complex disabilities.
