Job Summary

The post-holder is responsible for managing the day-to-day work of the Theatre Decontamination Unit. This includes ensuring that all instruments are correctly accounted for and tracked post-procedure, and that all instruments are received in good and timely order from our off-site decontamination unit.

Main Duties of the Job

To receive contaminated reusable medical devices from the Theatre and ensure they are packaged ready for transport to the off-site sterilisation unit. To ensure all instruments are tracked as per national guidance, and that all reprocessed instruments are returned from the off-site sterilisation unit and returned to the correct areas within Theatre.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct Line management of Tssu Staff
  • To ensure that contaminated reusable medical devices are processed according to departmental policies and those of the off-site decontamination unit.
  • To ensure that reusable medical devices are tracked according to national guidance.
  • To liaise with Theatre Leads to ensure that Instruments are processed in a timely manner and are available for planned surgery.
  • To ensure that the contractual obligations of the off-site decontamination unit are met.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Previous experience in either Theatre, Decontamination or Stores
  • Full understanding of the decontamination process
  • Good computer and numeracy skills
  • Ability to lead a team

Desirable

  • Good Customer Service Skills
  • Accuracy And attention to detail
  • A high level of communication skills
  • Flexibility in response to needs of the department
  • Ability to deliver a high level of customer service to Theatre staff and Consultants
