Transformative Change in Mobility

Lancaster University is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to contribute to the INFUZE project, a £7.8m five-year research programme grant funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UKRI-EPSRC).

The INFUZE project aims to achieve transformative change in how transport works, addressing the climate challenge while improving fairness and quality of life. As a Research Associate, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop an innovative science of participatory urban mobility transitions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the development of an innovative science of participatory urban mobility transitions
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team to co-design and implement community activities
  • Generating content and co-authoring outputs in relation to research undertaken in the context of collaborative research projects
  • Reporting on a range of different outcomes by project partners

You will be educated to PhD level or equivalent, with demonstrable experience of conducting independent and collaborative research, developing and implementing community activities, and generating content and co-authoring outputs. A high level of proficiency in qualitative social sciences methods is essential.

You will possess excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise a demanding and varied workload. You will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of internal and external partners.

The position is 1.0 FTE for 60 months, starting on 1 September 2024, or soon thereafter. You will be based jointly in the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) and the Centre for Social Futures (CSF), Lancaster University.
