About the Role:

Lancaster University is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to contribute to the INFUZE project, a £7.8m five-year research programme grant funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UKRI-EPSRC). The successful candidate will work across the Universities of Leeds, Lancaster, and the Royal College of Art (RCA) to achieve transformative change in how transport works, addressing the climate challenge while improving fairness and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing an innovative science of participatory urban mobility transitions in partnership with a multidisciplinary team and a wide range of publics.
  • Adjust priorities and incorporate new tasks as the project evolves in consultation with the project leads.
  • Support activities of relevance to the project linked to responsibilities of the leads of work package 1 (WP1) Co-Design, in Lancaster and the RCA.

Requirements:

  • PhD level or equivalent education.
  • Demonstrable experience of conducting independent and collaborative research, developing and implementing community activities, generating content, and reporting on outcomes.
  • High level of proficiency in qualitative social sciences methods.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise a demanding and varied workload.

About the Team:

The INFUZE project is a collaborative research project across three academic leading institutions in the UK, working with authorities, businesses, and citizens to re-imagine transport systems. The successful candidate will be based jointly in the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) and the Centre for Social Futures (CSF), Lancaster University.
