Youth Activity Coordinator

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team at Simply Out Of School Cowbridge as a Youth Program Assistant.
The successful candidate will work 9 hours per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during term time only (14.45pm – 17.45pm) at Y Bont Faen Primary school in Cowbridge, South Wales.
Job Description:This part-time position involves assisting with the delivery of youth programs, supporting children's physical, emotional, and social development in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Main Responsibilities:- Assist with setting up and clearing away equipment in the After-School Club, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Prepare healthy snacks, drinks, and tea according to our Healthy Eating Policy, promoting nutrition and well-being.
- Supervise play opportunities, providing guidance and support to children as needed.
- Contribute to planning and preparation of craft activities, enhancing creativity and imagination.
- Ensure children have a fun and enjoyable experience in the club, meeting their physical, emotional, and social needs.
- A level 2 or 3 qualification in a relevant field is desirable, but we also consider individuals willing to complete this training.
- Current First Aid and Food Hygiene Certificates are advantageous, demonstrating a commitment to safety and quality.
- Experience working with children aged 3 – 11 is preferred, showcasing expertise in child development and education.
- Playwork experience is highly beneficial, highlighting knowledge of play-based learning and child-centered approaches.
£11.50 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience, offering a competitive salary for this role.
The ideal candidate will be confident in assisting with the delivery of youth programs, handling cash transactions, organizing paperwork, communicating effectively with parents, and building strong relationships with management and the school community.
We seek someone who is lively, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work both collaboratively and independently.
The candidate must demonstrate respect for all children and adults, be prepared to assist with various tasks, and possess a good understanding of safety awareness and risk assessment.
They must be willing to undergo relevant initial and ongoing training and DBS checks.
Two references will be required at the interview stage.
