The business has established valuable, long-lasting relationships with over 3,000 customers and a comprehensive product range. Alongside its extensive product range, the company provides exceptional customer service, ensuring every customer enjoys a fast, friendly service backed by decades of experience in the industry.

This is an exciting time for the business, committed to maintaining its leadership position in the industry, with aggressive growth plans to double in size over the next 3-5 years. The owners have recently appointed a new Managing Director, who is now seeking a new Sales and Marketing Director to work alongside him and the leadership team to drive the business forward.

THE ROLE SALES & MARKETING DIRECTOR

The company aims to double in size over the next 3-5 years, while also exploring opportunities to expand into new markets. Due to these growth plans, the senior leadership team has identified a need to recruit a Sales & Marketing Director who will be responsible for developing and delivering the growth strategy, in line with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the sales and marketing strategy to achieve business growth and expansion.
  • Identify new business opportunities and market trends, including expansion into new markets and products. Analyze sales data and trends to optimize performance and drive sales efficiency.
  • Create annual sales and marketing plans, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to ensure goals are met.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders, negotiating major deals, overseeing pricing strategies, sales forecasting, customer acquisition, and retention.
  • Communicate market intelligence to the marketing team to facilitate development of marketing campaigns to promote products and services and enhance the company's brand and image.
  • Align sales activity with the marketing team to maximize sales and marketing opportunities and ensure consistent messaging throughout all campaign activity.
  • Provide strong leadership and establish credibility as a leader, successfully delivering the sales and marketing strategy, ensuring targets for growth and profitability are met or exceeded.
  • Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing team, ensuring effective recruitment, training, and development strategies are in place.
  • Devise and implement demanding targets for both sales and customer service teams to improve market share, profit margin, and customer satisfaction measures, without compromising quality.
  • Represent the company and build relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, clients, and industry partners.

Skills and Competencies Required

  • Degree-educated.
  • Strong commercial background in a B2B sales and distribution business.
  • 5-10 years of sales and marketing leadership experience within a comparably sized sales and distribution business.
  • Strong commercial leader with P&L experience, with a demonstrable track record of growing and developing businesses.
  • Experience of identifying, negotiating, and securing high-value contracts.
  • A charismatic leader who clearly demonstrates an ability to empower and motivate a team.
  • Exceptional skills in communication, motivation, and interpersonal relations, and able to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues, financial results, and strategy.
