Job Title: Books Commissioning Editor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Books Commissioning Editor to join our team at HarperNonFiction. As a key member of our editorial team, you will be responsible for commissioning and editing books that meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commission and edit books that align with our publishing strategy and meet our quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and other industry professionals to identify and secure new talent.
  • Work closely with our project editorial team to manage freelance copyeditors and proofreaders.
  • Stay up-to-date with current publishing trends and market dynamics to inform our publishing strategy.
  • Contribute to the development of our list of books and ensure that our publications are of the highest quality.
Requirements:
  • Robust editorial experience in commercial non-fiction books, including black and white and illustrated titles.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Strong relationships with authors, agents, and other industry professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Financial awareness and ability to manage budgets.
