Job Title: Books Commissioning Editor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Books Commissioning Editor to join our team at Be Applied Ltd. As a key member of our editorial team, you will be responsible for commissioning and editing books that meet our high standards of quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commission and edit books that align with our publishing strategy and goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and other industry professionals to identify and secure new book projects.
  • Work closely with our project editorial team to manage freelance copyeditors and proofreaders.
  • Stay up-to-date with current publishing trends and market dynamics to ensure our books remain competitive and relevant.
  • Collaborate with our marketing and sales teams to develop and implement effective marketing and sales strategies for our books.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a commissioning editor or in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with authors, agents, and other industry professionals.
  • Strong editorial skills, with the ability to commission and edit books that meet our high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of the publishing industry, including current trends and market dynamics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
