Job Title: Commissioning Editor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning Editor to join our team at HarperCollins Publishers. As a Commissioning Editor, you will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new titles for our non-fiction list, working closely with authors, agents, and other stakeholders to develop and implement a profitable publishing strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commission and edit titles for the HarperNonFiction list, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and other industry professionals to identify new talent and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a profitable publishing strategy for the list, working closely with the editorial team and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the publication process from acquisition to publication, ensuring that titles are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Contribute to the development of the list's editorial strategy, working closely with the editorial team and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Commissioning Editor or in a similar role, with a strong track record of commissioning and editing successful titles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and other industry professionals.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to develop and implement a profitable publishing strategy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for non-fiction publishing and a deep understanding of the market and its trends.
