About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Media Relations Officer to join our team at NHS England. As a key member of our Communications Directorate, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of our strategic communications and marketing activity.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the media landscape and experience of dealing with national media. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day press office work, including answering press calls and emails, and building relationships with journalists working in health.

You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate and open communication and co-ordination with a range of organisations and individuals in the media, researching and drafting written material (including press releases, statements and briefing notes).

As part of a dynamic team, you will work collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day press office work, including answering press calls and emails
  • Build relationships with journalists working in health
  • Ensure accurate and open communication and co-ordination with a range of organisations and individuals in the media
  • Research and draft written material (including press releases, statements and briefing notes)

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with or within the national new media
  • Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring the performance of health services
  • Experience in communications and stakeholder management
  • Good understanding of the background and aims of current organisational priorities and objectives
