Job Title: Specialist Dietitian

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Dietitian to join our team at Cromwell Hospital in London. As a Specialist Dietitian, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional nutritional care and support to our patients, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality services.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of clinical dietetics and a passion for delivering evidence-based treatment. You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and protocols within the service, identifying opportunities for service improvement, and promoting the department to enhance and grow services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized nutritional plans to AICU/critical care patients and support dietetic specialties as required.
  • Ensure provision of correct therapeutic diets by ensuring regular follow-up throughout hospital admission.
  • Assess the need for, promote, and monitor nutritional support for inpatients.
  • Recommend and deliver correct nutritional feeds to patients, both inpatients and outpatients, as necessary, to complement nutritional support.
  • Coordinate patient referrals and advise patients and/or companions regarding the prescribed diet and arranging follow-up appointments as appropriate.
  • Develop and provide information resources for patients, other health professionals.
  • Ensure robust working relationships with in-house Catering Provider, including external dietitian, in-house managers, and chefs; plan and develop menus for patients.
  • Promote, market, and develop the Dietetic Service in order to ensure its continued growth and improvement.
  • Participate in marketing initiatives for the department as requested, liaising with Bupa and Marketing Department.
  • Be involved in and organize national events within own specialism.
  • Contribute to the development and update of policies and procedures for the Dietetic Department within own specialities and ensure all dietetic service standards are maintained.
  • Work within the agreed annual Dietetic departmental budget and to ensure correct charging for nutritional consultations and nutritional feeds dispensed.
  • Seek and develop commercial opportunities to develop the dietetic service.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that quality standards and effectiveness of patient care are continually improved.
Requirements:
  • We are looking for a professional, friendly, and enthusiastic dietitian, with well-rounded experience in general clinical dietetics to cover the Hospital specialities.
  • In addition to the Hospital clinical specialities, FODMAP experience is highly desirable.
  • Paediatric experience desirable.
  • Accomplished general clinical dietetic experience including nutrition support and oncology experience.
  • Experience in critical care essential.
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at postgraduate course/training relevant to clinical speciality.
  • Degree or Masters in Dietetics.
  • Registered with the HCPC. Well-rounded general clinical dietetic experience including nutrition support (parenteral and enteral nutrition), intensive care, complex gastrointestinal surgery.
  • Supervision Training.
  • Member of the British Association of Dietetics.
  • Membership with specialist interest groups, e.g. CCSG, ICS.
  • Experience on a ward and outpatient setting.
  • Ability to understand complex issues, problem solve, and propose solutions.
  • Experience in media writing skills.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office applications, good analytical & organisational ability & good written and spoken English.
  • Flexible and able to work out of hours within reason, if required.
